When are the UMAT workshops conducted?
MedEntry runs workshops from January to July each year. To find out when workshops are occurring in your region, click here.
Which workshop should I attend?
You may attend any workshop that is convenient to you. However, we recommend avoiding attending workshops in the April and July school holidays as these workshops are heavily booked.
There is no workshop on the date that I wouldlike to attend. What should I do?
Please enrol in a workshop that is available. Workshops are added periodically and you can easily change the date of your workshop later (see Can I change the date of my workshop for more details).
Is it essential that I attend the workshop?
We strongly advise you to attend the workshop even if you have to travel a long distance. Many students attend the workshops from interstate and overseas because there are several benefits of attending. For example: instead of reading online, its much better to hear from an expert to reinforce the content; interaction with other like minded students will help with developing your thinking; networking opportunities with motivated and able students; you will get a significant boost to your motivation; some inside knowledge/info is provided in the workshop which is not available elsewhere; skills learnt in the workshop will be invaluable for your high school/uni study apart from UMAT and other reasons.
At the workshop you will also be given a hard copy trial UMAT exam paper which you can take away and complete at home under timed conditions. You can send your scores in to MedEntry, based on which you will receive predicted UMAT scores. Students find this unique information extremely valuable in planning their year and the UMAT preparation, including which sections to focus on.

We will make every effort to ensure that your request is accommodated.
Why do the workshops run for one day?
There are several reasons why MedEntry chooses to run one day workshops in New Zealand. MedEntry understands that New Zealand students are particularly busy with their university or school studies and therefore almost all prefer a one day session. Furthermore, many New Zealand students need to travel long distances to attend a workshop.
Interviews are not an essential part of the entry process for most courses in New Zealand. Therefore, it is better to focus on the UMAT in an intensive one day session. MedEntry offers a day-long Interview Training Session later in the year, for those students who are interested.
