About Henry Bethune
Born in 1890, Dr Bethune was a physician and medical innovator. He is best known for his service in war time medical units during the Spanish Civil War and with Chinese Communists during the Second Sino-Japanese War. He developed the first mobile blood-transfusion service in Spain in 1936.
Criteria
This bursary is awarded to students who receive an offer to a medical school(s) despite financial, social or other disadvantage.
Value
Up to three scholarships are offered every year, with a value of $600 each.
