What Are Medical School Interviews?

Why Interview Preparation Matters
Interview season can bring about considerable stress and anxiety for many students. A poor interview performance often means waiting another full year to reapply. Some universities, such as Monash, will not even allow interview re-sits: that is, if you perform poorly in an interview, the same interview score will be used if you reapply the following year.
This pressure causes students to fall into common traps: over-rehearsed responses, failure to demonstrate key skills, or offering superficial, bland responses.
Many students do not prepare for interviews, thinking they will ‘wing it’ or that the interview is ‘just a chat’. Unfortunately nothing can be further from the truth.
