My friend did a UCAT course but didn’t get into Medicine!

Performance in UCAT depends on what UCAT course you do. There are over fifty UCAT course providers and most of them are of poor quality, and he/she may have done one of those. Furthermore, since interview scores count for about a third of the selection criteria for medicine, interview training is important too. Your friend may not have done medical interview training.

We can guarantee that MedEntry’s UCAT program works. That is, we can guarantee that students will perform better after doing the course, compared to if they had not done the course. For example, a student who may have obtained 20th percentile without MedEntry’s preparation would get say 70% after doing the course, but it may still not be sufficient to get in to medicine. However, a student who may have obtained 50% without preparation, would get say 90%, and it would be sufficient to obtain an interview.

Many students who don’t get in to Medicine take a year off, resit UCAT after having done our course, and improve their percentile scores dramatically (by as much as 45 percentile points, i.e. from 50 to 95). Obviously their own personal contribution (in terms of motivation and extent of preparation) is important too.

No university offers students guarantees that getting a degree will get them jobs or that they will be successful in the profession they graduated in, just as we can’t guarantee that the students who do our course will get in to the course of their choice.
